An Evening with Mitt...

So we decided to head down to UNF to hear Mitt Romney at a pep rally this evening. (Yes, we subjected our children to an evening of politics) We have been explaining to Nathan lately that the caucuses and primaries across the country are a little like the play-offs in sports - everyone is hoping to win for a final spot in the presidential race this fall. Of course Nathan has thought for weeks that it's "cool" to have a Mormon running for president. Rodney and I have tried to keep an open mind to all of the candidates, and not jump on the Romney bandwagon just because we share his faith. But as we learn more about the direction he wants the country to go in, we are more and more impressed. Tonight was a lot of fun. Lots of cheering, music (yes Lauren was dancing), and excitement. We are thankful to one of our local house representatives who made sure that Governor Romney stopped for a photo op with our family. It really makes me thankful we live in America. Even though things are rocky in our country right now (with the economy, health care, immigration, etc) it still beats living in some of the poverty stricken or war torn countries that we witness on television daily. God Bless America... (and no, little Brooke is not possessed, she's just trying to turn around and see the strange man behind her! Oh! Nate is around, he just didn't make it in this particular picture.) In the video clips to the right, Lauren was on the news when we got home. I told her several times to NOT stand in her chair waving her sign (on the account others behind her couldn't see). Once again, not listening she got the ultimate payoff - a quick spot on the news!
