My $2.50 Headboards!

We recently took Brooke's crib out of her room and replaced it with a plain bed frame to match her big sister's. We are trying the whole "sharing a room" with them. With one at 2 1/2 and the other 7, it's a stretch.

So I found metal bed frames at Big Lots for $37.00 each. We then bought inexpensive box springs and mattresses for each. I originally wanted to do upholstered headboards in a cute fabric, but my eye came across this interesting piece at the thrift store the other day - for $5.00. It's a queen size headboard that is actually that nasty veneer 70's plastic (even though it looks like heavy wood) -the identical scroll shape on both the right and left sides intrigued me...... What if we cut it in half and painted it white for headboards? For $5.00 I had to at least try!

OK, I have to apologize for my husband's bare chest.......he was in the garage sawing this apart and it's 150 degrees here (ok, it least I fuzzed out his nipples out!)

Next, Rodney attached a leg on each and we used some white primer.

Last I spray painted it white....here is one set up behind one of their beds. Once bringing it in, I noticed we need another coat of paint on it (I just need to head back to Walmart)

I'm anxious to shop for pillows/sham, etc.... I thought for $2.50 each (plus spray paint) they were a bargain! Next up, painting the awesome Broyhill dresser I scored for their room - I splurged a whoppin' $40 for that at the same thrift store.....
